Waking up in Boston

Mad Oak Studios in Boston. That's my pretty Epiphone guitar hanging with a Les Paul and a Fender Strat.

My pre-order reached the halfway mark of $10,000! Which is great! Sean Slade, my producer, and Benny Grotto, the engineer, chose which song to put up for preview and I agreed that it was a good choice.

I'm sitting in a dark kitchen in a recording studio in Boston. From the next room I can hear my newest song unfurl it's wings. It is a truly amazing thing to write a song while sick in bed in Huntsville, Alabama and then, the very next week, hear it become one of the best things I've ever written.

Tomorrow morning I will hang this song in a golden cage by your window and let it sing to you. You will not be able to keep it, but you can let it wash over you.

In other words I will be posting a preview track from my album. Oh my god: my album.

I write in so many different genres, different voices, different stories. I wondered how they would all fit. I don't even know how to describe my music. An album, as an oeuvre, can be such a cumbersome. But the album is taking shape, there is a real feeling of unity, even in the disparate styles.

Listening to everything track by track, making notes, starting to think about which songs want to live next to each other on the album.

I'll try to post the song in the morning, before my flight, I won't know how you like it until late in the day.

Tomorrow I will post the preview track, and I want to ask you to listen, and share it: post links on your blogs, on twitter, on tumblr, on myspace, on facebook, on youtube, on everything.

The track will be going up on bandcamp.com, as well as Youtube, Vimeo, Myspace, and Reverbnation - which feeds facebook. The track will be available in many mediums, and I want your help to make it fly. If you like it, let other people like it.

See you in the morning.

Love,

K
